King Hussein of Jordan: A Political Life

I am reading almost every book is talking about King Hussein, and I guess this book is one of the best, because it’s talking about the whole life of the king with historical background of the Hashimate family. The two books that written by king Hussein himself stopped after the 1970s but this book go beyond this period until the last days of the king. I am very proud that we had a man like him, that kept Jordan safe in difficult times while others failed. The book is long and you don’t want to put it down. The author did a great job to collect all resources and information and the way of writing is really a joy. As I said it’s a must read for all people who is interested to know about the history of father, a fighter, a peace maker and a king.

Finally, Arabic support to Android arrived

The Arabic support to Android arrived unofficially thanks to Ayman Al-Sanad who added the support to the OS. I tried to add the Arabic support to my HTC myTouch 3G (Magic 32B) and now I have my mobile read Arabic in most of the applications.

What you have to do is to root your mobile, flash the latest custom  Cyanogen 4.2.13 that support Arabic restart your mobile and that is it.. Your HTC Magic/myTouch 3G support Arabic.

To flash your mobile with the custom room check this website

UPDATE: (Cyanogen 4.2.15.1 with Arabic support)

Cyanogen 4.2.15.1 is the latest custom ROM for Android now also support Arabic, flash first Cyanogen 4.2.15.1 then flash the Arabic support from here… Also to support them you can either donate or but the RTL support from Android Market

UPDATE: (Cyanogen 5.07 with Arabic support)

If you already want to upgrade your mobile to the latest Android 2.1 aka eclair and get benefits from the the new features and scared to lose Arabic support?! Think again because our friend Ayman did it again and add the Arabic support to the Android 2.1 and I confirm that it is working… after flashing 5.0.7 go to this website and flash the Arabic support to your mobile..

3D Cinemas in Amman, my 1st impression

Yesterday I went with my brother to City Mall to watch Final Destination film in 3D, I didn’t watched any film from the series but the idea was to try the 3D movies,

The ticket was 8 JD and as the ticket guy told me, in 3D movie the more you get closer to the screen the more fun you will have… At the entrance I picked up one of the glasses that are looks old fashioned and cheap :), I asked the guy how they clean them because they are not disposable, he said after collecting them they sterilized them before the next show. Once the movie is started I put the glasses on, they are light and you look funny with them 🙂 and to be honest I didn’t felt comfortable with them for a few minutes. Now Is it really 3D? I can say yes.. the film was bloody with no story but the 3D experience make it nice.. The most exciting  moment was a snake scene I felt as if the snake is on front of my face :). I guess RealD movies are a good steps towards 3D movies, definitely I will go for more movies (Good one only) and I hope later on they change these glasses with cool one 🙂

Top sites in Jordan

Yesterday I was reading that Orange is reduce more the prices for the ISP to help to increase the number of Internet users in Jordan and Zain before couple of days released the Zain e-Go service in Jordan as the 1st provider in middle East (but Kuwait and Bahrain already had this before) also to compete and spread the internet. I decide to see what internet users in Jordan are looking for and their interest and how they are using the Internet. I went to Alexa website and checked the top visited sites in Jordan, the 1st one is Google.jo  and the 2nd one is Yahoo.com, I said ok most of users home pages are these two sites no problem, then Facebook (I hate it) people in Jordan are wasting their time by putting their information public to world-interested. after that Youtube came; people here are spending lots of time watching videos on YouTube. Then Koora, you know football is popular here in Jordan. after that Alrai newspaper, finally something good to read (at least). Wikipedia came on no. 11, good to see it here… then I went to the list till I reach to the 100 website. what I notice is that people either listening to music, reading news, watching video, or adult content or socializing… Is this what we need really from the Internet, I guess in addition of encouraging people of connecting to the Internet, government and public/private sector should educate people the benefit of it and how really you should use it

Top Sites:

  1. Search: Google
  2. Video: YouTube
  3. News: Alrai
  4. Sport: Koora
  5. Social: FaceBook

iTunes App Store in Jordan

Yesterday I opened iTunes account, even Jordan is listed on apple page as one of Arabic country that gonna get iPhone after few months but there is no iTunes store like KSA and UAE. How I opened it? I purchased a gift card from ebay ( you can get it also from Amazon); I redeem it on the US store. Now I have iTunes account with $15 credit, and I also I can download Aljazeera Podcast (and a lot of free podcasting) also I downloaded a Free App for my iPhone. After only one day of using the store, I reach to conclusion, iPod or iPhone without iTunes store is missing a lot of thing and this is what make iPod/iPhone espacial…

Zain and Me

I could not hold myself and wait tell I get back to home and write about it. I love the customer service here in our area espcailly when the company become big and have lots of customers. Today I was checking my bill for the mobile phone and i was shocked that they charge me 25 JD  for Internet usage, but I am already subsribed to the one of data plan??!!!! I called the customer service and told them the story, he told me that I canceled my data plan subscribtions before one month, but actually I didn’t last month I just increase the sms plan that’s it, he told me I can’t do anything for you and this is what our system tell us. I finished the call, go to my iPhone and turned the EDGE off, and I conclude when the guy increase my sms subsriptions he removed the Data plan and now i should pay for his mistake… I will stop ue the Internet on my phone until a good plans or service be availabe on the market and I don’t see it on the near future
